I made this painting in two stages.
1. Base Drawing, no reference: Red Prismacolor pencil for a loose drawing, structural and consisting of squarish shapes. Mechanical pencil, 0.5 mm red pentel crayon to create color, depth, and unifying detail
2. Digital Paint Overlay, references: Adobe Fresco to paint. I studied a variety paintings to evaluate the progress of my painting. This was helpful when trying to measure the Qilin’s contrast and saturation.
